Why Is a Doctor Refusing to Sign Paper For Short Term Disability Insurance?
Why Is a Doctor Refusing to Sign Paper For Short Term Disability Insurance? Many people find it hard to understand why a doctor is unwilling to sign papers for short term disability insurance. Although it may be understandable why they are reluctant to do so, there are some reasons why it is understandable that they might be reluctant to do so.First of all, sometimes a long term disability insurance policy is cheaper than a short term one, and a doctor is reluctant to sign off on the insurance documents because they want to retain some profits. Secondly, a doctor might be reluctant to sign papers for long term disability insurance for the same reason that they do not want to sign papers for short term disability insurance. As, well as the other reasons, sometimes doctors are reluctant to sign papers for long term disability insurance because the patient is not going to live beyond the amount of time specified in the short term disability insurance policy. In a perfect world, there woul d be no such problem, but sometimes, the situation arises where a physician refers the matter to his client or claims to his client that he is not quite sure about the amount of insurance coverage that is to be provided. In this case, the client can lodge a dispute with the insurer as long as he submits an affidavit or a copy of the policy. However, a couple of problems can occur if the agreement is made before a specified period of time has elapsed. If the agreed amount of coverage is over ten thousand dollars, the insured can avail the cash equivalent of this amount through a lump sum. However, if the agreed amount of coverage is below the specified figure, the patient can keep a part of the cash value that is granted to him and go on with the policy. Sometimes, the patient will claim that he was not given the insurance as per the provisions of the insurance policy. The situation is all the more unfortunate because such issues might create a rift between the doctor and the patient a nd therefore create even more trouble for both parties. Some patients have the misconception that all physicians and practitioners who sign the papers for long term disability insurance are greedy and possess no compassion for their patients.Sometimes, such disputes also create anxiety and stress for the client and other disadvantages. A physician might not be able to work out the payment arrangements or any clauses within the policy and therefore the patient might have to rely on the assistance of the professionals. The fact is that any one who provides short-term disability insurance should not be considered as greedy or malicious. The agreement that is signed between the doctor and the client should be taken seriously and not simply as an afterthought.
